Why is my blog blank or displaying code?

Why is my blog blank or displaying code?

If your blog is blank or displaying code, the first thing you should do is check your template code and make sure it isn't blank or missing any code. To access your template, sign in to your account and go to the Settings | Template tab. You will then see all the code for your template in a frame. Please browse through your template code to make sure you aren't missing any major amounts of code.

If you are missing some code or if your template is blank, you may have accidentally erased some of your template code when making customizations to it. To fix this you must pick a fresh template from the Template | Pick new tab. Please note that all of your posts are safe and will be published to your new template. However, any customizations you have made to your template will be lost. We recommend always saving a copy of your template if you make extensive customizations to it. After you have selected a new template you must save your changes and republish your entire blog to see the most updated version. Also, make sure you refresh your blog page in your browser when viewing your changes to ensure that your browser is displaying the most recent version of your blog.

If you have checked your template code and everything seems correct, you may be experiencing encoding issues. You can change your browser's encoding settings from the View > Encoding menu of your browser. Please make sure your encoding settings are set to either auto-detect or Unicode (UTF-8).

Note: If you are publishing via FTP, you should also check your Settings | Publishing tab and make sure your blog filename has the correct format. Your blog filename should be something like index.html, index.htm, or any other valid filename (.php, .asp, etc.).
